When I came you greeted me, though I never knew
Born into time, no choice of mine, given a nature
A word was given to me when I came as flesh
I will speak it at the first sound I made when no one understood but you
Sounds made for deliverance, to escape all that I unknowingly felt
As my awareness slowly came, eyes of consciousness opened
It dawned on me, that which occupied my being
Every moment I'll know you, not hidden from all, yet ever present
In my futility to escape, I cannot hold you, as you hold me
The good I would do, be evil at best, no good dwells here
Sold into you by virtue of being conceived, just being born
It is for all like me who when born, knew not what will greet us
I am at my best when I am for what I am, by who I am
My nature, desire, cries out for you much to my destruction
I'm hopeless, helpless, to your strangle hold, loves darkness rather than light
My deeds formed, fashioned by choices that come naturally
A nocturnal creature, I find myself reveling, unlike when daylight comes
I retreat from good, but propel myself to evil
In this wretched body, as it silently, slowly breaks down
I'm at a lost to change the course of my journey without help
Like all I'm infected and affected, the evidence of your presence is everywhere
The silence of my nature whispers to me what I am
The shouts of my carnal desires points me to a certain end
Though you were bred in secrecy, nurtured in silence, hope looms
In spite of carrying you for a lifetime, weary, worn by your presence
Trapped in a body of mine, there's hope for a renewing of mind
While many died carrying you and your effects to the grave
In our attempts at finding a way to escape we often fall short in efforts to save
