On Days Like These

On Days Like These

When fortune came my way, as a sleepy night crept away

Eyelids opened to welcome, the hugging light of another day

As subconscious kissed conscious, gladly presenting her

I look to you oh lovely day, for what you have to offer

Many an unknown event will come my way

Anxiously, stalkerly lie, in wait, to come this day

I'll never, ever, be fully prepared, to live it all

Hopefully, there is a friend, on whom I may call

Wished my nightly rest had not let me go

Troubles stare at me, I would not care to know

A warmth affair I dearly missed, remembered as I gently kissed

A place of mine, devoid of time, upon a chest I gently pressed

When it's never enough for me to achieve

I look to a soft place, oh sweet gentle reprieve

Grateful to not know the future, or I'll die

Nervously faced its troubled woes, at least I'll give it a try

It's just another day in this stream, call life

All its evolving drama as a flower, will never unfold twice

Ever flowing, gladly sustaining, allowing all to come

Just do what can be done, then another day for some
