A Brother

A Brother

So dear you are to me

You came at a time in life

Young and oh so carefree

Vain, folly, mixed with strife

We laughed and played

As time stood still for us

From our home we strayed

In each other we dare to trust

Though we often disagree

Fight for a moment or two

With you I'm most often free

Doing the things, I love to do

You are to me a keeper

My every secret to share

When we are together

The world looks on beware

I long to hear your voice

Talk with you, hear you say

We've made the right choice

Not long ago, on that day

Now you're gone leaving me

Wished you were here again

Much has changed lately

It just not quite the same

To live not having you

Mother's gone, as all will

Memories abound not a few
