Your Face

Your Face

Your face looked at me in love

I just came from your womb

You bore me, cradle me

Fed me while I was in thee

I felt the rhythm of your beating heart

I knew you'll always be there for me

As you housed me within

As my eyes are closed, skin fresh to your touch

I'm pressed close to your heart, ready to start

To start living, loving you, even in my inocence

I will depend on you for my very life, my existence

Fed from your body, I'm sustained

You are the vessel chosen to give me life

The warmth of your body comforts me

When I soon opened my eyes it the first face I see looking back at me

In my innocence as I lay, I stare, as if to say, "I'll be okay"

Yes, come what may mom, with you in my life

I'll be okay

Not having an earthly father to call my own, I'll be okay

I'll be okay when I come home, while there's not much to eat, I'll be okay

I'll be okay just to have you when all else failed, I'll be okay

To love me, believe in me, nurture my dreams, I'll be okay

Worn out from working, yet I see you still coming

Your hugs, your gentle voice, you speak in my ear

Your tenacious spirit that never quit, I see in your face, your grace

It said to me silently, never give up I believe in you

Throughout your life as that first moment when I saw your face

You speak to me this deep abiding love

To always remember, what you did to sustain me

Always remember, to love God more than you

Smile through it all, remember when I first saw you

Even when you never knew

The moment has come to remember my face

Keep me in your memory, always remember

I've tried, my humane best to only love you

My sojourn has finally come to the place

I now sleep in His eternal arms

I rest from my earthly wanderings

As those I have loved and known

I now have my place to call my own

You will see my face for the last time, in time

You will miss me I know, yet I know

His strength will keep you, as I've been kept

This vessel is now returned waiting for another

You will see me again, we will see each other's face

In the light of His Face, we will see each other, and we will smile
