On Our Becoming

On Our Becoming

We were never asked to be released
From a place we were nurtured
We were at rest and perfect peace
All so fair, nothing can be severed

Where at rest, our beauty, at its best
Though we never knew, it was all good
So good to be free from all that would test
We were known by our form, as we should

Then we were called from how we became
Our coming to time, to a place, to live, to give
Given this one chance, even given a name
Hands attempted to hold us, we do forgive

We come into this form, this body
A shadow of what it was when we became
Though no two alike, we're all together lovely
Though naked we came, still no shame

Will our coming forth be applauded,
Embraced by a world in need of love
Such presence be noted, be lauded
All in this life will need our love

In our coming we serve, make a difference
Live a life so unique unlike any other
A presence felt, a world feels our essence
So touched by you all left to wonder

Would that humanity so appreciate
All that's you as part of the whole
Not elope with love; to escape
Keep it as to have and to hold

The years of our lives are reminders
The coming that we live, sets our becoming
Our brief stay here will soon find us
With all that this life will bring

The beauty of you lies not in this vessel
This temple not made by hands, in time
But by what you're becoming at another level
A revelation only one of a kind
