It's Not For Us To Know

It's Not For Us To Know

Curious minds are everywhere

A specter lurks in every space

It permeates, the atmosphere

Concerns abound in this place

An aching wonder floods every soul

A predicament we faced every moment

Eyes when lit by the light we take hold

Grasp what will come without consent

We live between the already and not yet

Inquire into what's coming our way

The past was lived with some regret

Tomorrow not seen to face a fateful day

Can we stop the rain, reverse a moving earth

Hold the wind, catch the mist, bottle every river

Dare we smile at the sun that touches this dirt

Know the joys and the sorrows our lives deliver

If we knew what was soon to come our way

Would we reach out and joyfully embrace all

Tomorrow's hearts filled with trauma, a day

I just wished to die and not have to recall

Live each day, life's burdens best not to know

This life is just enough for only one day

We are spared to see what will come and go

Despite all we may say even when we pray
