You Belong

You Belong

You belong to this day when you opened your eyes to it

When you prayed and wondered what it will bring or you to it

When a stranger became a friend, and a smile you gave away

Some lonely soul needing it, surreptitiously passed your way

When another's burden you helped to bear

On this day, you showed life's worth living by how much you care

If when all is said and done, the burdens you helped to lift

Another felt having you around, was simply the best gift

Unlike all you knew, many you didn't, who would've loved to have known you anyway

Who having lain, didn't open their eyes to this day

It's the one thing you felt, hungered for, the moment eyes were opened

Saw a world, desperate to escape, yet needing to hold one so broken

Then know that you belong
