Once upon my innocence in time
Eyes slowly opened to see my kind
The light hit my eyes, the world was mine
In this vessel I came, silky, soft, yet fine
My awareness limited to a state of sublime
Unknowingly, I've been placed among mankind
Presented as unique, would I age as vintage wine?
Become better daily, even divine as with time?
You have captured me, even possesed my mind
This body constantly change, yet beautiful I find
It's never the same as the day before, I'm sure not blind
Such cruelty is seen, felt in this body, that's in slow decline
All around unwillingly agrees with me, in bodies like mine
Silently enduring the ravages of time
I hold the hands of nature, see your effects are many a dime
Everywhere cries out for deliverance, from an estate in time
I've known you before, I knew myself as a vine
The pure juice of your presence runs down my spine
In vain I try to catch you in life's prime
Sadly, I daily discover you're no friend of mine
In the light of the moon, the rays of sun shine
Life is not fair, as I stand in its line
I patiently wait for what can only be mine
I'm well taught by your shadows, cast align
In vain I'll touch you, your hands hold all in a lifetime
As all, I'm afflicted, conflicted, tormented, in body and mind
Your reality, is my mortality, as I visibly see the signs
Your death grip will not hold forever, I'll come forth refine
This break in the continum of eternity will soon become a pastime
I will clap for joy, as many a friend of mine
A space occupied by all, in this brief episode call time
No more bound by you, in a new design, forever I'll shine
