Night

Night

When it draws near the sun says goodbye

The moon always there in the day

Now leads the way as she smiles in the sky

The chickens, the roosters now quiet down

As they make their way up to the branches of the trees

Fireflies decorate the night with their bioluminescence light

The birds singing their mellifluous sounds all day long, quietly sit in their nest

Creatures of the night, now come out in delight

Their nocturnal dramas in full display

Wait, can you hear the hooting of an owl not far away?

It was always there in the day singing its song

Waiting for others of like-kind, as night comes along.

All must sleep, and the night is for some as the day is for others

Here in my room I think as the lights are out

I feel your presence so thick, I can touch you as my pupils dilate

Somethings are seen better at night when in the stillness, they come to light

I can hear the beating of my heart just no need to panic

Feel the warmth of the air rushing from my nostrils, under this here blanket

I can see the flickering lights of my life more clearly

Then turn them off as I sleep stronger in the dark

My body yearns for its refreshing presence, restoring every cell

All alive will sleep, we need the night to remind us of death

Where as we lay our heads to dreams, the cares of life no more a threat

As we lay down in trust that we will come out of the darkness to see the light

For a world it can be night for many a soul, as it was for Judas

Night for many who prefer it, lest their deeds are shown in the light

When night comes will we be able to find rest in sleep?
