My Mother

My Mother

I opened my eyes at birth, what would I see

First thing I saw were your beautiful eyes

They look right back at me, yea through me

You looked at me with wonder, love, tears of joy

In my innocent flesh, butt naked, none I annoy

That moment you knew I'm yours, you're mine

We'd love each other for the rest of time

In your head something changed, mentally

In your body the same from carrying me

My skin against yours, hearing your heart

None can ever, tear us apart

You will have me now all to yourself

While others will come just like me

In your heart I'll always be; yours

Though dad was there a strong tower

Maybe fainted when I came that hour

For him I don't blame

You are mother, I'll never have another

I hear your groans not far away

Sound the same when I came one day

A strength shown, not by brute

In what perseverance peeled from love

Shows itself in staying up late for me

At a time when all else falls asleep

To read my very emotions

I don't even know it shows, try to hide

You always know what I feel inside

Kissed my pain away

I'm ready to take on another day

I know I'll not have you forever

To come to my aid, whenever, wherever

Truly it hurts, others lost theirs

I'll shed a tear when I remember you

Never love another the way I do

The joy that we share, a love that was rare

I'll see you again, we'll meet over there

At a place where there'll be, no more pain

I'll always cherish you

For as long as I live
