The World

The World

It's the only one I know

The one I was born to here below

This terre ferme I live , rotating to and fro

Beckons me to cherish, wherever I go

Presented as a gift; from your womb I came

Time and again, gave me life, knew my name

On you I spend every waking moment

Soon I'll fall asleep, totally spent

In your firmament above and below

This earth is cradled, so much you show

Your presence in the air, waters grand and fair

Asked us to love you, just live here with care

I know of no other but you, who sustains me

No place or another, I'd rather be

Yet for all the beauty, though somewhat marred

Your trauma has made me scarred

My time here in your embrace won't be long

Before I truly start living, as smoke I'm gone

No more to smell, taste, touch, hear you

My years with you are but a few

Will we allow you time to heal

Is it too late for us, crying to appeal

To look at the only world that we know

You're the only love I truly have, here below
