A Moment

A Moment

In my sleep, in my unconscious state

I am touched by you, now I'm awake

Like all who lay like me, some are now no more

Left behind missing those I adore

They were once awake but now are taken

Some in sleep, an unconscious state

Others while they were wide awake

Our lives are lived not in seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks or years, but in a moment

For when we lay our heads in sleep

To be awakened, touched by you

It feels as though, but just a moment

Could it be why we spend most our lives

Resting in you, waiting to be touched

Ready to be called out,  just by you?

If we didn't hear your whispering in our ear

Be awakened, we were taken, in a moment

Or lying in our beds riddled by all sorts

Ready to be taken in a moment

We breath, we inhale, we exhale every moment

It will be well for us to remind ourselves

We live our lives not in seconds, minutes, hours days, week or years but in moments

When we came for that womb of our sea

Once cuddled, protected, secured as can be

Into a world so cold, sin got a hold

Ready to devour us at every moment

We lived as we first cried in that moment

Soon we knew we were, boy, girl, another

The place into which we were born

Though our hearts will be torn

We adapted to life as we move on

Cherishing life's moments together

We learned how to love, how to live

We walked the aisle in our gowns, in our suits

We smiled, we kissed each other

Pledging our onesness, our love in a moment

While others never lived it

They too lived every moment

For all who were born and lived it

Touched by it, caressed by it, existed for it

For when we are transformed, transfigured

Placed into another existence

It will be as a moment, the twinkle of an eye

To look at what we lived and what we now live

An eternity to travel, worlds to behold, galaxies, stars to see and even more, minds to explore

Vision given to behold, the wonder of it all

An eternity to live like none before

To love you God more and more

For the former things shall not come to mind

Why would they, amidst all that's sublime

We will hug it all while looking into the face of another

Loving each other so much more, so pure, so true

Truly living now, for more than just a moment
