Before you, like all were conceived, I knew you
When ideas came, before others would even perceive
Atoms, molecules, smallest of all, invisible to any eyes, were in view
Nothing was hidden, that I knew, and so were you
Like all before you came, you became in One, was only known
As you traveled through water, to emerge between knees
A previous gift of life, like all greeted with smiles of relief, even joy
You will grow to be loved, nourished, cherished, higly favored
Will you allow A Visitor to enter your domain, to deliberately enter your need
Many a sickness fester in the soul, waiting impatiently for deliverance
As one so loved, laid up sick of the fever, waited for her turn
When it came, felt her sickness fled, as she ministered in loud praises
Finding your vocation, passion driven, inside your purpose
The sea would welcome you, teeming with lives, a many splendid thing
On your dinghy under the stars by night, the moon smiles
Dancing on waves, with the wind in your face, salt on your skin
Ever willing to admit your flawed nature, again as later we will see
When no fish showed up for company, came by to break your net at the sea
Your declaration of whom you'll follow, by a tongue from which cursings once came
Gladly extolled such A One, a name above every other name
Let's go a fishing the cries came up, there you were
Your language, personality, character, forged by boisterous waves
Called to fish for men, who like fish may choose to bite or not
Will you love One enough to feed sheep as when you fished for men?
While not close to His bosom as one, you were never far away
Even tempestuous waters knew you would walk on them, just don't look away
As you cried for help, onlookers had their say on another day
A cry heard above the waves of life, as all with a mind ought to do
You asked to declare such wise sayings, spoken from lips that breathed life
Told of a rock that cannot be broken, unlike you a stone
An unwelcomed presence knew when told, "get behind", much to your chagrined
Transparency displayed, if tribute should be paid, or how much should one be forgiven
A little of you shines in us, inquiring what we will gain, for having all forsaken
Sincerely promising to never forsake nor deny, be wide awake, not close an eye
Mesmerized, when light shone from a body brighter that all lumanaries, way up high
Cursings and swearings ensued when asked the question of all questions
Will you allow your feet to be washed, it's not for what's on them
As what's in your heart, yet One would humbly stoop low to wash you, as all
To restrain from such, meant no part with such a welcoming guest
Now you know, you wished to be washed from head to the rest
One look of love, pierced your soul, as you felt forgiveness
Weeping for the love that was shown, while so undeserving
When as promised, unlike any, The Life Giver, came from the tomb
You were remembered, to be told the wonderful story
In all of us there is a little of you, if we took the time to look
If in our failings through much railings we would come to accept
We are no good by ourselves, without our Life Source
The mention of your name gives us hope, beyond our despair
On another day you stood up filled, possessed, by another
When all listened, would ask the fateful question
A genesis unlike all had begun, and when in life forgiven
You chose to go out, dying a grateful death, upside down
