Perchance

I forgot to express my appreciation

Took what's been given for granted

Another day ends, gives much reflection

Was my fist clenched or was it open handed

Though I majored on the simplicities

Looked on the trappings of life's journey

Only now to realized missed opportunities

To make life's long, lasting memories

I may never come this way again

I'll take every chance to bring wholeness

Help exchange joy for someone's pain

It's the smallest things that bring oneness

I came from a faraway place in eternity

Not knowing where I'll be presented

My brief stay in time, I yearn to be free

To a state where I'll be ever alive, exalted

I came to a world of much turmoil

It's not a place I'll truly stay, call home

Everything it offers, my spirit recoil

One day I'll be gone and be not alone

I'll do my part to bring about change

A world is crying out for a helping hand

Activities of men abound, so out of range

My life seen in footprints left in sand

I can look back on this life only to say

What was it all for, was it worth it all

As I introspectively live each day

So much I dare to question, to recall

I see men's blindly efforts to find answers

Ideations, questionings, probing in askance

Failing to recognize what really matters

This life on loan to us, is our only chance
