Fear Not

Fear Not

Emotions run through me

Can feel it, almost touch it

Envelopes me, begs to be free

Here in me, eyes open to it

In my awareness I knew you

In a home where I lack care

A spirit of violence, abuse, I knew

I walked, lived, and slept in fear

This seed came, given life

The germ of all that was present

A forest filled with strife

Concerns abound most evident

Pleasures are mine to have a kingdom

It's always been within me

This matter I lay me down

Attempts of this night to break free

I stumbled as I tried to walk

Hoping not to fall, as my parents did

Sooner I will know you stalk

Doing what you only could

This mortal of finite clay

I sought longingly to preserve

Forget I may, any given day

My life is not what I deserve

I'll reach out to the unknown

Dare to live, not by what kills

This life's not mines to own

That of faith I'll just be still
