Remember Me

Remember Me

On days like these we remember those

The ones we loved, no moment was brief, time oh so short

We felt them while in vitro, in vivo, touching us

A child, who became so independent

Lived an unforgettable life, even carried us

Who became a child again, after we first carried them

We will forever carry them in our hearts as we reflect

As a child again, they strayed away, as in innocence, they laughed and played

Only to be released on another day

Reminded for having brought nothing, the same is, when we exit

Our thoughts, the love wherein we loved

So precious, having lived, who touched us

We hold so dear, if for some, so short a time

Would've loved to see, what they would become having lived long enough

Some having lived a lifetime, yet now no more

There is value in each life, a presence never to be forgotten

Our presence is evidence they were here, still in our hearts

We will know what it means to live, to love everything life brings

Even the pain that comes, if one is truly willing to give one's self to love

How can we forget, having loved, your smile, a contagious presence

One precious gift that lit up a room, a steady shoulder to cry on

Given to all to perform when all else failed

Having loved you, grieved for you, these fond memories

Forever will stay until we meet again
