He Must Increase, I Must Decrease

He Must Increase, I Must Decrease

On this day as a river flows by, its transparent water invite

The sunlight reflects of it as all of nature eagerly looks on

They all in aghast, excitedly point to a lonesome figure coming my way

As if to say in one voice, "behold the lamb who comes"

I have held on to this hope that goes beyond time

My journey was meant to be mine, to prepare for this

To suffer it all for all to become, someone greater

If it be I suffer, then by death to fulfill all that is beyond physical

The body they may kill, one prepared for me like all

Where in the secret place only known to the All-Knowing

All ever born of flesh was fully revealed unto perfection

This mystery of godliness, now walk in flesh, condescended to save all

If men search after me, they won't find me, I'm everywhere

I will find them, for in me all consist, the heavens and earth testify

In your search by reasoning and thought, men will still be left to wonder

How can mortal understand imortality, imperfection, grasp perfection, corruptible know incorruptible, finite discern infinite?

So it was in ones failing, all present yet unborn inherit such

In another all shall be blessed, for this lamb would be slain

Even as Abraham saw it above the altar in the flame

We must bow, welcome Him whose presence ushers in peace

Even brings the reign of sin to cease
