A Daughter

A Daughter

A delicate flower

Watered as a shower

Like that of rain

Never too much for you again, again

For as fragile you are

Care given, will be admired from afar

Any father fully knowing

Ought he not do, to your best showing

Caring, loving, ever protecting

So fragile a petal, too delicate to spare

A beauty to touch, so rare

Demands my constant care

When carefully pruned

Will respond, continue to grow

Ever ready to bloom

Conscious of this, I know

In fertile soil, well nourished

You will continually flourish

Amidst all others out there

Your distinctive aroma fills the air

Guides me to your spot my dear

I'll always want you near

Yet painfully I'll let you go

Protective of my flower

Somewhere, I'll trust that you'll grow

Only right for such delicate beauty to show

So much in you, that I don't yet know

As the dew forms, rain comes down

My tears for you will never cease

Yet, this reminder brings me peace

I see what you've become

A garden now, lieth in thee

Waiting to bloom
