Looking Through Our Window

Looking Through Our Window

This child in us, with childlike trust

Woke up to a world willing to share

Will we be allowed to find what's us?

Will this world that greets us truly care

Will what's out there know who's in here

Do we do the unthinkable and let them in

May stand here for now, look out from here

Would they deserve our affection if we let them in

Then, this cogitative mind of yours and mine

On days like this, whence from behind clouds, a sun would shine

Reminding us of a life out there, we'll find

When, with time, we leave this room of yours and mine

The window of our youth our lives reminds us

The joys, the tears, the way we live our years

What did we live for whence we placed our trust?

Were we willing to embrace it by facing our fears?

Will a world out there even care what's housed in here

Whence from this room, we look outside, with a dreamy stare

The inviting light outside, not as that inside

Shines a path to leave this space from which we no longer hide
